Commissioner Rogers

Friends,

Please join me in supporting Judge Cynthia Y. Cobbs as she seeks election to the office of Cook County Circuit Court Judge.  For those of you unfamiliar with Judge Cobbs, she was appointed to the bench in September 2011, by unanimous vote of the Illinois Supreme Court, after previously serving as the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC).  Judge Cobbs was the first woman and African-American to serve in the Administrator position.  Prior to serving in the Administrator role, Judge Cobbs was the Chief Legal Counsel, a role she achieved within two years of joining the AOIC in 1997.

Judge Cobbs began her legal career in 1989 as a law clerk and eventually became chief law clerk to Illinois Supreme Court Justice Charles E. Freeman.  Prior to embarking on her legal career, Judge Cobbs earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland and worked for several years in Maryland helping abused and neglected children.  She has extensive experience in the administration of Illinois’ trial courts and has been recognized for numerous awards including the Chicago Bar Association’s Earl Burris Dickerson Award.

For all of these reasons, I ask that you join me in supporting Judge Cynthia Y. Cobbs as circuit court judge through your vote in the March 18, 2013, Democratic Primary and allow her to continue her great service on the bench.

Sincerely,

Larry R. Rogers, Jr.
